I was super excited about attending the Chalk Art Festival in Georgetown, TX today with a dear friend and the kiddos. After a few weeks of craziness due to illnesses and studying for midterms, getting out to do something quirky and fun seemed like the perfect way to spend a Saturday.

And then it rained. But we suffer for the lack of rain here in Central Texas and it wasn’t hard not to be happy about the brief, but very needed bit of rain that fell. So, the Art Festival was a wash out, but thankfully we got a little tiny bit of rain.

Thankfully, B was able to enjoy his afternoon at a friend’s birthday party and later in the evening we watched a movie on post with friends. It wasn’t the exciting afternoon strolling around downtown Georgetown I had envisioned, but it was wonderful, nonetheless.

And it brings us one day closer to welcoming Brooks home, so that’s always good in my book.
